Desert dust gets into Peoria houses

Most of Peoria was built in the last few decades. The houses are mostly stucco with tile roofs, and the front yards are gravel instead of grass. Inside, tile floors run through most rooms. Old Town, near Grand Avenue, has the older and smaller homes. Up north, Vistancia and the neighborhoods off Lake Pleasant Parkway are newer, with taller ceilings and bigger windows. Those high spots are where dust sits longest. Nobody can reach them from the floor.

Summer brings the monsoon, and with it the dust storms that roll across the West Valley. Even with the windows shut, fine dust works its way in around door frames and sliding glass doors. It settles on ceiling fan blades and in the slats of window shutters. The air conditioning runs most of the year, so the return vents pull that dust through the house until the grilles turn gray. Gravel yards keep the mud down. They don't do a thing about dust.

Then there's the water. Peoria tap water is hard, and it leaves white scale wherever it dries, on shower glass and around the base of every faucet. When we clean on a regular schedule, we wipe it off before it can build up. A deep clean gives it more time, because scale that's sat for months takes more than a quick spray. We also check under the beds and in the drawers for anything left behind.

You're usually not at the house when we are, so communication matters more on a rental than anywhere else. If a guest broke something or left a stain we can't lift, we'll let you know so you can handle it before the next booking. Spring training is a busy stretch for Peoria rentals.
